TRUMP CONTINUES TO PUSH FOR COVID-19 VACCINE BEFORE ELECTION: Officials from the World Health Organization are holding a briefing on the latest developments of the global coronavirus outbreak that has infected over 26.3 million people around the world and killed almost 870,000. Through Operation Warp Speed, Pres. Trump continues to suggest that the United States will administer a vaccine by the end of 2020. He has recently even floated the idea that a vaccine may be ready before the November election—a move that health officials worry is politicizing and fast-tracking the development process. However, in an interview with NPR, the chief adviser for the White House vaccine program Dr. Moncef Slaou said that there is a ‘very, very low chance’ of having a vaccine by the end of October. When questioned about the politicizing of the process, Dr. Slaou responded, ‘For us there is absolutely nothing to do with politics… Many of us may or may not be supportive of this administration. It’s irrelevant, frankly.’
